Visiting the Monastery

The Monastery is a humble farmhouse, set on 20 acres of farmland between Deniliquin and Mathoura, about 55km north of Echuca, Vic.

Address:

Carmel of Jesus, Mary & Joseph

5523 Cobb Highway, Mathoura NSW

The Nun’s Chapel is open 6am to 6pm, for those who wish to visit the Blessed Sacrament. If you wish to attend Holy Mass, please contact the Wilcannia-Forbes Chancery office for more details about Mass times: (02) 6853 9340 OR chancery@wf.catholic.org.au

The Sisters do not normally meet with visitors but it is possible to ring the bell and speak through the Turn to one of the sisters, and leave a prayer intention or leave donated goods on the Turn. The Turn is an enclosed turntable on which items can be placed and rotated into the the enclosure for the Sisters to collect; it is located near the bell, on the right hand side of the Monastery at the corner of the house. The Sisters remain behind the enclosure and are hidden from view.

For those travelling from afar, the Monastery is a comfortable drive less than 3 hours from both Melbourne (Tullarmarine) and Albury airports. Accommodation in the local area is readily available, including motels and caravan parks at Mathoura, Deniliquin and Echuca/Moama. The following links are provided for convenience:
